IL-33/ST2
Molecular target
Interleukin-33 (IL-33), a cytokine, is part of the IL-1 family, and is constitutively expressed by a broad range of cell types, including fibroblasts, epithelial, and endothelial cells, particularly in mucosal tissues. Following cell stress, tissue injury or necrosis, IL-33 release acts as an alarmin binding to the ST2 receptor and activating cells of lymphoid and myeloid origin. Functionally, ST2 and its ligand, IL-33, regulate inflammatory processes and pathway activation has been associated with diseases including asthma, pulmonary fibrosis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Antibody Tools
AstraZeneca has developed a number of preclinical antibody tools that target the IL-33/ST2 pathway.
